Boys & Girls Club of Council Bluffs Be Great Run - A four person x 2 mile team relay run/walk or individual 2 mile run/walk benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Council Bluffs programs. The Club received the 2009-10 Presidential Citation for strengthening Rotary's future through exemplary action and service. Congratulations! Thank you for all of your hard work!


Fall Picnic fellowship event has been rescheduled to Thursday, October 14 at Tish's. Cocktails at 5:30 pm, Dinner at 6:30 pm. Cost will be $15 per person (this does not include alcohol). Guests are welcome. All members are asked to contribute a raffle item to be raffled at the picnic. Erin Johnson and Lisa Yilmaz are picnic chairs.


The Club has earned 4,360 points by giving to Polio Plus. The Board voted to use these points to match member donations to the Annual Programs Fund dollar-for-dollar to help them earn their Paul Harris Fellow. Points will be offered to the newest members and to members who are close to earning their Paul Harris Fellow first. The August 12 program will be on Rotary Foundation to educate members.


Congratulations and Thank You to Donna Pritchard for achieving her Paul Harris Fellow Plus One recognition. This means she has given over $2,000 to The Rotary Foundation.


Carol Horner and Paul Hamilton received the Community Partner Award on behalf of the Club for its participation in the 5th Grade Career Fair.


Union Pacific Railroad Museum Presents the 50th Anniversary Special - Council Bluffs, IA to North Platte, NE. November 13, 2010. Boarding begins at 6:30 am with departure at 7:30 am. Pulled by UP's Living Legand, No. 844 to North Platte and by Diesel Locomotive back to Council Bluffs. Approximately 15 hours total. Poker Tournament Fundraiser - Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 pm at the Council Bluffs Masonic Temple. Fundraiser will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Jason James is the chair. Donation of prizes is needed. If you would like to help, please contact the Executive Director.


IWCC student, Gary Thompson, was presented with his Rotary Scholarship at the August 19 meeting. He is a graduate of Kanesville School. He is a second year career student. Gary had his LPN graduation in the spring and is now working toward his RN and Associates Degree in nursing. He would like to thank the Rotary Club for its commitment towards furthering his education. This last year has been one of great growth and education and he has had the opportunity to learn many new skills and care for many diverse patients.
